Extra income report – June 2016.
I’ve been feeling quite down in the dumps since my mother’s visit came to an end and we had to say our goodbyes again.
It’s just something you come to terms with when your family’s scattered across three corners of the Atlantic, I suppose, but sometimes it’s tougher than others.
I’m trying to cheer myself up by remembering the fun we had over the last two weeks, and by looking forward to the next visit, which hopefully won’t be too far off. All that fun did come with a price tag, since my mum just loves to shop, and it’s hard not to get drawn into her spendy vortex on long days out.
We also had a Star Wars themed party for Little Balders and his mates the day after Mum and my stepdad arrived, which meant spending a bit more than normal. We didn’t mind letting loose a little though – it was all well worth it.
But this post is about earnings, not spending, so here goes:
- Interest – £35.46
- Cashback – £33.64
- Online Earnings – £3
- Vehicle Tax Refund – £36.25
Total: £108.35
Now, I debated with Lord Balders whether to include the vehicle tax refund into the ‘earnings’ calculation – I wasn’t sure whether it could really qualify as it was just an expense that we’d have to cover again with another vehicle. His thought was that there are some out there who wouldn’t bother to (or know how to) reclaim the pre-paid tax after scrapping a vehicle, so I ought to include it as I’d done the little bit of extra work to get it back. What do you think?

So it turned out to be slower in June than May for both spending and earning. I happen to know that July’s going to be the best yet, but I’ve got to wait until my chickens are hatched before I count them – stick around!

I think you should include the vehicle tax refund. It is something that you weren't counting on and Lord Balders is right-you worked to get it by knowing that it was owed to you.
It's hard being geographically separated from family. I only see my family once a year, but luckily I get to talk to my aunt on the phone every morning. The next visit will be here before you know it and it will give you something to look forward to!
