Extra Income Report – September 2018

Extra income report - September 2018

Extra income report: September 2018.

Back to school and back to the routine, and you know what? It wasn’t too bad! I don’t love being on the treadmill, but somehow it made September fly by and only the fun stuff seems to stand out now… which is quite a nice result.

Here’s a breakdown of our passive and side hustle income for September.

  • Cashback – £1.50
  • Referrals – £75
  • Interest – £22.98
  • Blogs – £131.40

Total: £230.88

My rules for calculating our extra income.

What do we include?

Cashback, bank interest and incentives, dividends, bonuses, competition wins, discounts earned through loyalty points, voucher codes or special activity, found money (substantial amounts), gifts, tax refunds that would otherwise be unclaimed, earnings from online or offline sales, as well as earnings from surveys, apps and freelance writing work.

What doesn’t qualify?

Our salaries, regular sale refunds (such as buying something and then returning it), discounts on items in store or online that are available to all, general estimates of what we could have spent but didn’t – such as reducing a bill and calculating what the difference would have been.

 Here’s our income in detail:

Interest

Bank interest is holding steady at just a little over what it was last month. What’s great about getting money back as interest from current accounts is that it really is the definition of passive income – it just sits there and works for us!

Cashback

Almost nothing this month, save for £1.50 back from Green Jinn. I don’t use it as much as my favourite cashback apps, but I always check it when I’m in Tesco.

Blogs

It’s been another pretty good month for laid back blogging returns. This month we earned £35.50 from Affiliate Window, which is still my favourite affiliate network.

I’m happy with this month because I really couldn’t put any more time into my sites, as prepping my artwork for exhibitions has taken more of my focus, as has the actual making of the art. It’s definitely been a fun few weeks, firing up the charcoal furnace and melting cans to make new treasures!

Referrals

I’m a bit conflicted as to whether to add referrals as its own heading or to lump it under blog earnings, as in all honesty, the referrals have come from the blog and I wouldn’t have been able to earn them without the blog, right?

Anyway, here’s what they were – £25 from Curve and £50 from Bulb.

The best bit is, I know I’ve helped someone else to get £50 from Bulb, and I’ve given five people £5 each for signing up to Curve with my code. Good feeling, right?

That’s all for this month…

Now that the leaves are starting to turn, I’m looking forward to seeing this season for the first time in our new house. Watching the view from the back change will be amazing, I’m sure!

Over to you.
