My Spending Diary – June 2019

My Spending Diary June 2019

In May I bought a lot of sculpture supplies, but in June I diverted slightly – only one purchase this time, but wait until you see it…

What goes into the spending diary?

All the things I’ve bought for my sole personal use. We decide on household items and shared interests, and they come out of the household budget.

Any cashback earned goes back into the household budget.

Brother Scan N Cut CM300 machine

A few months ago, I saw a video of a cutter-plotter machine for the first time. It was a Cricut Maker, and I was amazed.

I didn’t even know exactly what I would do with one, but I wanted it! Still, I like to research everything before buying as I knew nothing about cutting machines, and it seemed like a whole new confusing world to navigate.

What software do they use? What are cutting mats and blade holders? Which brand is the best?

It took ages to decide, but eventually I settled on a Brother Scan N Cut CM300, which I bought second-hand on eBay.

I wanted to start off with my main sculpture project – using the cutting machine to cut out kraft paper pieces that I could then layer up to make a 3d form.

It worked out just as I imagined!

As for the original Cricut machine that caught my eye, it probably is better, but it was out of my price range. Remember, I was on a budget, and I only had so much left over!

Total spend: £153.29

That single purchase nearly wiped me out, but I did come in under budget!

Budget rollover to this month: £52.42

I started May with £155.71 and my spending brought me down to just £2.42. On July 1st, we each got another £50 added to our budgets, so as of the beginning of the month I had £52.42.

Gotta make this stretch!

Where’s the rest of it?

As usual, you’ll have to pop over to our grocery spending for details on what we’ve spent at the supermarket last month. At least I was onto a winner in that category in June!
