Five frugal things we’ve done this fortnight:
The last two weeks have been overshadowed by preparing to move. We’re currently wading through packing materials and wishing that it will all end soon. I’m still a little afraid of saying it out loud, just because I’ve gotten so attached to the idea of our new home! Call me paranoid, I guess it would be accurate; but no point in worrying about everything that could go wrong though.
Here’s what we’ve been up to these last two weeks:
Picked up our Lidl Welcome card
Lidl has been promoting its Welcome card scheme, which gives you a free item when you spend over £20. We tend to shop mostly at Aldi these days and do top-up shops elsewhere, but we figured we could easily buy some things in bulk and make that spend up, particularly as the cat food is practically identical and costs the same in each store.
Those little creatures are eating holes into our wallets! At least we think they’re worth it. We picked up a free box of washing powder, which we actually needed as we’d almost run out.
Got a TopCashback payout as Zeek credit
This time the cashback was from my account, and I bumped it up from just over £15 to over £18 by choosing to get it paid into my Rewards Wallet (a new TopCashback feature) and convert it into Zeek credit. Thinking it’ll go towards a new dishwasher after we move in to our new home. Yay!
Listed some vintage books on eBay
Sadly, no-one took the bait, but I’m giving myself the credit for having a go! I hate selling stuff online so it’ll at least gee me up for listing more items before the move.

Made my first art sale on Etsy!
Yes, I hate selling stuff online but I love selling my art! This time it’s special because selling my artwork means much more to me than selling my craft items (I’m not making those any more). My plan is to build my art sales throughout the year so this has given me a massive boost, and it helps that I haven’t had to pay a penny to list on Etsy so far.
Picked up some free desserts from Tesco thanks to CheckoutSmart
As we happened to pop in to Tesco on the way home from my work, I took advantage of the fact and got some clubcard points added to my account from an old receipt, and had a quick look at CheckoutSmart to see what freebies they were offering.
I never seem to be near a Tesco when the really good offers are on, but this time we got some chocolate mousse desserts for free. No complaints!
